This is the long-anticipated luxury hotel project in Kyoto, a city which constantly ranked high among the world's most visited cities that has attracted many tourists. The hotel has 180 rooms, including 57 hotel residences.
In order to preserve the historical landscape of Kyoto and make use of "Shakusuien," a garden that has more than 800 years of history that has existed on the site, many consultations were made with the local authorities and business owners, and the layout and floor plans of the guest rooms were studied before arriving at a staggered floor plan. As a result, each guestroom is afforded a variety of views, allowing guests to enjoy the unique charm of Kyoto that can only be experienced here. Because there is a building height restriction, the floor-to-floor height is set at 3,150mm and a 275mm thick flat slab is used to create a space without beams to maximize the ceiling height of the guestrooms. The project has succeeded in realizing a "Japanesque" contemporary atmosphere while at the same time incorporating the styles and materials of traditional Japanese architecture inside and outside the building.
